Not only must it grow capital, it must also grow what it produces in order to continue, hence it must also consume more and more and more resources which requires the consumption of more and more energy. I don't believe you can put the Genie back in the bottle. Who in the 3rd world doesn't want some refrigeration? Who in the first world can get along without a car?
